From January 1st 2010 Lookfly will be introducing a new fabric for all technical T's and shorts called 4ACTIVE! We've taken the best parts of our Aquaduct fabric and combined this with a new micro-fibre yarn and working with our friends at Polygiene have produced a new breed of technical garments that excel in 4 key areas.

Moisture Management

4ACTIVE is an engineered dual-layer weave with each layer purposefully designed with a unique function. The next-to-skin side of 4ACTIVE is woven flat with a silk-like finish for maximum comfort and to increase skin-to-fabric contact. Our micro-fibre yarn wicks moisture from the surface of your skin and transports it quickly to the second layer of the garment for faster evaporation and better internal climate control for the wearer in both hot and cold conditions.
The next-to-air side of 4ACTIVE maintains an industry leading textured surface similar to our Aquaduct fabric. 4ACTIVE fabric has more than a 2 to 1 ratio of outer to inner surface area, enabling it dry quicker even in the warmest and most humid playing conditions. In tests performed during 4ACTIVE development by sports fabric technology experts, performance fabrics with our textured surface consistently outperformed other technical fabrics and excelled against technical fabrics without the advantage of a textured surface.

Anti-Odour & Anti-Static

Many people do not realise that sweat itself does not smell. It is simply the damp environment that sweat creates on the skin that allows for nasty bacteria to grow and make a home on your body and especially in the clothes your wearing while you sweat. Smell can increase the need for unnecessary laundering and create embarrassment and discomfort for the wearer. With 4ACTIVE, as the moisture is transported to the surface of the garment it passes through a Polygiene patented silver salt (AgCl pictured left) treatment. Aligning with Lookfly's environmental policies, Polygiene uses only recycled silver (Ag), a certified natural anti-microbial substance that enabled 4ACTIVE to kill 99.99% of bacteria throughout the life of the garment.

Our new fabric manufacturer has their finger on the pulse when it comes to keeping up with the need to control climate change and reduce waste. They have a purpose built dyehouse, designed to recycle water, which reduces our overall water usage by 15% as well as using efficient machinery and advanced control systems. The mill factory has also reduced CO2 emissions by 450 tonnes a year over the last 3 years, and working alongside the Carbon Trust aiming for further reductions. All Lookfly dyestuffs used in the production of 4ACTIVE are fully assessed against Oeko-tex standard 100 health & safety guidelines and regulations. In addition to all of this, our new fabric mill is only 20 miles away from Lookfly HQ bringing the carbon-footprint of Lookfly performance garments to an all time low.
