Green Initiatives
Lookfly has been flying the flag for Green Initiatives since 2001. In that time, many of the tournaments we have sponsored and supported have experienced a whole host of unique Green activities, designed to help reduce our impact as Ultimate players on the environment.
Some of our most notable achievements:
Lookfly was the first to sponsor a recycling programme at the UK’s favourite tournament , The Copa Cabana, - where 700 players will fill 3 large industrial sized recycling bins with plastic, glass and cardboard waste over the course of 3 days play.
We made the first ever recycled plastic player gift mug for The Copa Cabana used by players to get free tea and coffee at breakfast, reducing the number of disposable plastic cups wasted from 1800 to zero.
We provided the Lookfly Green Player Gift at xEUCF2009, where 1700 players received a 100% PET recycled lanyard, recycled and biodegradable plastic wallet and PET recycled plastic dinner card. The players were then invited to return their dinner cards to us at the end of the event and over 300 were sent for recycling again.
We launched The Village Green at xEUCF2009, an eco-friendly lounge for players and spectators using second hand chairs, sofas and tables bought with a large donation to a charity shop. The charity shop then benefited by being able to collect the furniture at the end of the event to be resold in their shop again.
Our current programme:
Since UK Nationals in August 2010, we have introduced a regular recycling station at all events we attend to collect plastic bottles from players for recycling, as a way of reducing waste at tournaments and promoting our NewLife™ Fabric made from 100% recycled PET plastic.
We will provide tips and tricks as to how your team or event can become more socially and environmentally responsible via our monthly Newsletter.
As part of our event sponsorship packages, we will always provide environmentally friendly Player Pack/Gift options and use recycled or Fair Trade products over other choices where possible.
Working with Windmill Windup, Europe’s number one Environmentally Friendly tournament we aim to make all merchandise clothing sold at this event either 100% Recycled Polyester, Organic/Carbon Neutral Cotton or Fair Trade.

Players:
As well as proving players with fully recyclable 100% recycled polyester gear, we want to raise awareness about the damage that we all do by going to practises or attending tournaments to play Ultimate and also provide solutions that help reduce climate change. Before going to your next event, try using our Carbon Calculator to see what size your carbon footprint will be.
Make it a challenge to reduce your carbon footprint for each tournament or practise you attend, by car sharing, using public transport or getting on your bike. Bring your own packed lunch and reusable water bottles to events and practises rather than buy convenience food and drinks on the go, it’s cheaper and uses far less packaging.
